Okay, putting my keyboard where my mouth is - some more Pros! kiwisue posted a manip she'd made over at her lj and although she apologised profusely for it, I sat and stared at it for a while anyway, and... it made a wee ficlet... (it'll make sense as long as you've seen Takeaway!

He felt saturated with the smell of damp, of cold walls and congealed fat in frying pans, of vomit and piss and shit. The floor was hard and chill beneath him, pinpoints of grit and grime and unspeakable dirt sharp even through the leather of his trousers. In a few hours maybe, when the house was settled and there was nothing left but the occasional moan in the dark, the odd whimper or muffled sob, he would take himself to The Carlton Tower again, would stand under a shower and lean back in its heat, surrounded by steam and water, and scented soap, and forget for a brief while that this was his life.

He would forget that Doyle was miles and lives away, warmly tucked in bed, curled up with Esther and waiting for nothing worse than the alarm to ring in the morning. He would forget that he was there alone, just for a moment, and he would open his mouth, and breathe in, and imagine that there were hands on him, hands holding him, hands moving to the same rhythm as his own, that Doyle was right there, pressed against him, breath coming in the same small pants and gasps, and…

But not yet.

Downstairs a door slammed, a man shouted, and a girl cried out. Beneath him the floor was cracked and warped and full of draughts, but there was work still to be done.

Bodie really got the short end of the stick with this assignment. You've very nicely conjured up his feelings of isolation and loneliness.

Aw - he did, poor pickle, and KWS's picture made me think of it rather like that, and the way that Bodie's sort of yearning towards him, and... poor old Bodie... *g* And thank you!

What a brilliant interpretation of that picture! He really does look miserable and desperately wanting, and of course he needs Ray to be looking at him like that ... among other things.

Good job with this one. You portrayed just how Bodie could have felt having to live in that hovel while Doyle was shacked up with a pretty girl. Thanks!

Yeah, that's the feel of that episode, isn't it? They're apart, and they're fine, but they are so much more when they are together. You captured that, for me, with Bodie's imaginings...and then the work still to be done. Very nice. Thank you!

(Oh, and, er, thank you for what I found on my f'list when I finally got home tonight! *g*)

And yeah, they really really do need to be together, don't they... Thank you!

Nicely done! You captured what I imagined that job must have felt like for Bodie, and the, well, depressive-ness (is that a word?) of that place perfectly.

You've totally got me thinking about that word too - depression? Erm... depredation? Erm...? *g*

I loved the feel of this, the way Bodie's loneliness and the squalor and human pain around him lead him to thoughts of Ray. Great use of a slender prompt *g*.

Thank you! And it wasn't such a slender prompt, there was a world of yearning in our Bodie, in that pic - and when I thought about the ep he'd been in it sort of... did it's prompt-y work - so thank you! *g*

Great snippet for the capture/manip! That's just how I imagine Bodie would feel in this depressing surroundings, yearning to be back together with Ray again.
Thank you!

Yes! There's definite yearning going on there! And I'm sure there is on Ray's part too, y'know, he'd far rather have Bodie than Esther... *g*
